Historical
Book character Arsene Lupin first Lupin first in 1905 in Maurice Leblanc's novel Arsene Lupin, the Gentlemen Burglar. Netflix show is directly inspired by this book as it takes the character and modernises it as it is not a direct adaptation but instead use this character and focuses heavily on issues of racial inequality and injustice. Lupin in the show faces systematic racism and discrimination in the upper echelons of French society and get revenge for his father's wrongful arrest leading to his suicide.
